The firm supports clients through complex financial challenges, including Chapter 11 reorganization, bankruptcy litigation, debtor/creditor disputes, and related commercial litigation. This is an opportunity for a detail-oriented bankruptcy paralegal to support a sophisticated restructuring and litigation practice.

About the Role

The Chapter 11 proficient Paralegal will support attorneys across business bankruptcy, Chapter 11 reorganization, creditor rights, and bankruptcy litigation matters. This role requires a highly organized legal support professional who understands Chapter 11 workflow, court filings, calendars, document preparation, client communication, and bankruptcy case administration.

Responsibilities

Chapter 11 Case & Filing Support

  Prepare and organize Chapter 11 petitions, schedules, statements of financial affairs, creditor matrices, first-day materials, operating reports, notices, declarations, and related filings under attorney supervision.

  Assist with disclosure statements, plans of reorganization, amendments, claims-related materials, fee applications, hearing binders, and supporting exhibits.

  Electronically file documents through CM/ECF, monitor filing confirmations, and maintain accurate records of court activity.

  Track Chapter 11 deadlines, local rule requirements, trustee requests, hearing dates, filing obligations, and case milestones.

Bankruptcy Litigation & Discovery Support

  Support contested matters and adversary proceedings, including pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, deposition preparation, exhibit organization, and trial or hearing materials.

  Gather, review, and organize financial records, tax documents, contracts, bank statements, creditor information, and other case-critical materials.

  Coordinate document production, case chronologies, correspondence, service lists, certificates of service, and internal case tracking.

  Assist attorneys with research, factual summaries, case status reports, and preparation for hearings, mediations, meetings, and court proceedings.

Client, Court & Team Coordination

  Communicate professionally with clients, creditors, trustees, court personnel, opposing counsel, vendors, and internal team members.

  Respond to routine case status questions, collect missing documents, and help clients understand procedural next steps under attorney guidance.

  Maintain organized electronic matter files, filing indexes, calendars, task lists, and case documentation.

  Support a responsive, detail-oriented legal team culture in a deadline-driven bankruptcy and litigation environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  Chapter 11 bankruptcy paralegal experience or demonstrated proficiency supporting Chapter 11 matters.

  Experience preparing, organizing, and filing bankruptcy-related pleadings, schedules, notices, declarations, and supporting documents.

  Working knowledge of CM/ECF, PACER, bankruptcy court filing procedures, and deadline tracking.

  Understanding of Chapter 11 case flow, debtor/creditor issues, contested matters, adversary proceedings, and bankruptcy litigation support.

  Strong organization, proofreading, document management, and calendaring skills.

  Ability to manage multiple matters, urgent deadlines, and detailed filing requirements with accuracy.

  Professional written and verbal communication skills with clients, attorneys, court personnel, trustees, and creditors.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)

  Paralegal certificate or degree in legal studies or a related field.

  Experience in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.

  Experience with Best Case, Jubilee, NextChapter, Clio, MyCase, NetDocuments, iManage, or similar legal software.

  Experience supporting business bankruptcy, creditor rights, Chapter 7, Chapter 13, or general commercial litigation matters.

Pay range and compensation package

Compensation will be aligned with the candidate's Chapter 11 bankruptcy proficiency, legal support experience, software fluency, and ability to manage filing deadlines and case details with minimal oversight.
